Apple won a major privacy fight after U.S. spy chief Tulsi Gabbard said Britain dropped its encryption backdoor demand, ending a dispute that risked violating the CLOUD Act and undermining user security.

The US director of national intelligence says the UK has withdrawn its controversial demand to access global Apple users' data if required.

"As we have said many times before, we have never built a backdoor or master key to any of our products or services and we never will," Apple said at the time.
