Newly-appointed India test skipper Shubman Gill said he wants to concentrate on his batting rather than the pressure of captaincy as his side prepares to start a new era following the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

It seems like Shubman Gill’s love of test cricket is as strong as it was for the great Virat Kohli. Gill is heading into his first assignment as India's test captain and was asked if he’d prefer to win the upcoming five-match series in England or the title in the Indian Premier League.

Shubman Gill should be given adequate "time and support" to succeed as he leads India through a tough transition phase, feels the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, whose advice to the new skipper is to focus on his own planning without thinking about opinions outside the dressing room.
