Most of the planetary alignment, which is colloquially referred to as a planet parade, will be visible to the naked eye just after sunset Friday, according to Preston Dyches, writer and producer of NASA’s monthly sky-watching video series, “What’s Up.”

Lineups of four or five planets occur every few years, according to NASA. In late August 2025, four planets will be visible before sunrise, and in late October 2028, five planets will be visible at once before sunrise. Another five-planet alignment will occur in late February 2034, with the planets visible after sunset.

This phenomenon, known as a 'planetary parade' is a rare sight, and it will be the last time seven planets can be seen simultaneously so well until 2040. The best chance to see as many planets as possible will be just after sunset on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
