USC is working to finalize a deal with Savage, who has proven to be an elite Southern California recruiter in recent years.

USC is finalizing a deal to hire Colorado State assistant Chad Savage as its new tight ends and inside receivers coach, a person familiar with the decision but not authorized to speak on the matter told The Times.

USC football announced that Zach Hanson would move from coaching tight ends to the offensive line. While that filled the Trojans' void at OL coach, it also meant that they needed a new tight ends coach.

USC football is expected to hire Chad Savage after he spent the last three seasons on the Colorado State football staff.
