River Ridge High School and River Ridge Middle School in Pasco County are closed on Wednesday after school officials say "excessive smoke" from a nearby controlled burn led to unsafe conditions on campus.

River Ridge High School and River Ridge Middle School will be closed Wednesday due to heavy smoke on campus from a controlled burn.

Students at both schools were asked to stay home because of a controlled burn in Starkey Park, staff said in a Facebook post.
