Christmas tree vendors like the family-owned Holly Branch Farms are feeling the impacts of a nationwide shortage of Christmas trees, as they have fewer trees to sell this year than in previous years.

Haywood County officials said its farms are open to customers and the area is getting back to normal a little more each day.

A volunteer firefighter, Pollard cleared fallen trees from roads and helped bring supplies to elderly people isolated by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The Pollard farm took a hit, too. He estimates that 700-800 young trees were lost and access roads across the property were destroyed.
