Cambodia’s prime minister said on Thursday he has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, lauding his “extraordinary statesmanship” in halting a border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.

The U.S. President has been formally nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in ending the recent conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.

The gesture comes after a U.S.-brokered cease-fire with Thailand, and a trade deal with Washington that blunted a threat of heavy tariffs.
