Each New England state has seen more days over the last five years when fine particulate matter or ozone exceeds air quality standards that are considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”

The wildfire areas of Manitoba and Saskatchewan are projected to receive 50 millimeters to 100 millimeters of rain this weekend into early next week. That amount of rain converts to two inches to four inches of rain. Two to four inches of rain will do a lot to extinguish a wildfire.

Going outdoors will be very tempting Monday as the heat returns. We’re expecting temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Caution should be exercised as more smoke from Canadian wildfires enters the region.
