The SEC fined Texas A&M $50,000 fine and coach Mike Elko received a public reprimand Tuesday after the National Coordinator for Football Officiating reviewed tape of an incident in the fourth quarter of the Aggies' win over Arkansas. The review determined Texas A&M directed a player to go down with a fake injury.
After a 3-0 start and being as high as the No. 7 team in the AP Poll led to a horrendous three-game skid and a swift kick right out of the Top 25, the Penn State Nittany Lions had finally had enough and handed head coach James Franklin his walking papers.
The Aggies were found in violation of the NCAA rule governing feigned injuries, the SEC announced in a statement released Monday.
