Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco spoke to reporters Wednesday ahead of a Sunday Night Football matchup with the Detroit Lions.
It all started on a September night in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Lions are coming off a 37-24 win at the Cincinnati Bengals in a game that was never close. Detroit opened a 28-3 lead behind quarterback Jared Goff, who passed for three touchdowns. Lions running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs each ran for a touchdown, and Montgomery threw a scoring pass.
Two penalties wiped out long returns on special teams. Another came after Harrison Butker inexplicably kicked out of bounds after the Chiefs had driven 86 yards for the go-ahead TD with 1:45 to go. And another on Chamarri Conner that wiped out a pick by Bryan Cook in the end zone, and instead set up Jacksonville for the eventual winning touchdown.
Tight end Brenton Strange injured his hip and was questionable to return, according to the Jaguars. Strange caught one pass for 22 yards in the first quarter and entered the game leading the Jaguars with 19 receptions, and was second to Brian Thomas Jr., in yards with 164.
The Chiefs won their first game of the season, on the road against the New York Giants, on Sunday night. It wasn’t artful, but it was a much-needed victory ... and the Chiefs (1-2) just might have found themselves a threat at wide receiver in the process.
