Rabat – FC Barcelona have announced a deal with Joan Garcìa as their first signing of the season. The 24-year-old goalkeeper joined with a $25 release clause from city rivals Espanyol.

Since the turn of the century only one player has signed directly from Espanyol before Joan Garcia, the striker Jonatan Soriano. At Espanyol between 2006 and 2009, Soriano joined a Barça Atlètic side in 2009 coached by Luis Enrique.

With Joan Garcia's arrival to FC Barcelona, there are some question marks over the future of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has been linked with a move to Galatasaray
