Israel said Hamas carried out "a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement" with attacks on its forces in the Rafah area. Hamas restated its commitment to the truce and said it had no knowledge of any clashes.

Israel on Thursday accused Hamas of not complying with the cease-fire terms to return all of the hostages to Gaza. While all of the live hostages have returned home, Israel is awaiting the handover of the bodies of the deceased hostages. As of Tuesday morning, 13 bodies have been returned to Israel, with 15 still in Gaza.

The body of the oldest hostage taken by Hamas was returned to Israel, along with another deceased hostage, as part of a US-proposed ceasefire agreement.

An Israeli security official said the transfer of aid into the territory is halted "until further notice," the first major test of the ceasefire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement that Hamas had violated the ceasefire and vowed to go "forcefully" after Hamas terrorists. On Sunday, he decided to close all crossings to the Gaza Strip and halt the delivery of humanitarian aid in response to Hamas' violation of the ceasefire.
