After storms lashed South Florida with as much as 10 inches of rain in Pompano Beach and significant flash flooding in Boca Raton, a taste of fall weather is on its way.

Officials are evaluating damage and impacts after several inches of rain fell on portions of Brevard County and Lake County Sunday night, flooding streets, yards, and some homes.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a tornado warning for Central Brevard County in east central Florida until 10:30 p.m. A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for central and northern Brevard County until 11:45 PM. This includes Rockledge, Cocoa, and Cocoa Beach.

The last time it rained so much that it became a part of the game's narrative was in 1993, the famed "Timeout Game," when UF defensive back Anthone Lott called a time-out a split-second before Georgia quarterback Eric Zeier threw an apparent touchdown pass to Jerry Jerman. It was ruled no play, the Gators made a stop and won 33-26.

Some central Florida roads and yards were left washed out and heavily damaged after weekend storms dumped over a foot of rain in some spots.

The most powerful Atlantic hurricane of 2025 is making landfall in Jamaica, with the Category 5 storm to hit near peak strength.

The amount of rain that fell over the weekend is not expected to be repeated; however, any additional rain over saturated Broward County could result in flooding.
