Cowboys Executive VP Stephen Jones has intimated that the Cowboys may target a rookie QB late in the draft. That doesn’t mean they wouldn’t need a veteran backup with some games under his belt. Jones is another who would fit the bill.

However, before his injury, Greenlaw was an absolute force in the middle of a 49ers defense that was one of the top units in the NFL. Alongside Fred Warner, Greenlaw had back-to-back 120-plus tackle seasons in 2022 (127 tackles) and 2023 (120 tackles) in 30 total games, averaging 7.56 tackles per game over that stretch.

Even still Spotrac is projecting that Diggs will command a $13.5 million salary once free agency begins next week. After making two big restructures this past week, the Cowboys have around $54 million in cap space they can use to absorb a contract such as Diggs is projected to receive, but will they be willing to take the risk?
