The Muscogee Nation Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that two descendants of people once enslaved by the tribe are entitled to tribal citizenship.

In a landmark unanimous ruling, the Muscogee Nation Supreme Court has ordered that Creek Freedmen—descendants of formerly enslaved individuals associated with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation—are to be granted full citizenship.

The state Supreme Court ruled an attorney was not obligated to investigate her client's immigration status after he repeatedly misrepresented it.
